Tropical wedding flowers, once considered appropriate only for the islands, have really come into their own. They just have so much to offer, they are hard to ignore.
Finding them is easier than ever, too. Once upon a time, if you weren't in the tropics (or willing to spend a huge amount of money) they just weren't available. Those days are long gone.
Tropical flowers are usually:
- Brightly colored
- Very fragrant
- Versatile for many different weddings
- Can be very modern or casual
With all of the possibilities, it's easy to understand why they are being seen everywhere. But wait, you live in Minnesota and aren't planning on marrying in the tropics? No problem. There are many different growers and companies that can easily ship exactly what you want, just after it has been cut. They will be very fresh when you receive them. Imagine opening up a box of freshly cut tropical flowers... the fragrance is wonderful!
Some of the most popular are anthuriums, orchids, heliconia, plumeria, hibiscus, protea and bird of paradise. Some are better in a more formal or structured arrangement, while others do better loose, as a casual arrangement or even a Hawaiian wedding lei. Most of them come in many different colors, so coordinating your wedding is easy to do.
If you are having a destination wedding, definitely consider these incredible flowers. If you are having a wedding at home, you should also really think about using them. They are beautiful, fragrant and fit in anywhere. You will have a fabulous wedding!
